Artistic Utopia

Money is clearly even more of a moot point than usual right now. There is a lot of property on the market internationally and amazing value to be had, if you have a few hundred thousand to spend. Somewhat inevitably though, in what is essentially a ‘nice to have’ market, most of the deals being done now are at higher values, involving buyers with sufficient resources to not feel any ‘pinch’ – and to get exactly what they want. For several clients this year, what they want is a small estate suitable for hosting special interest holidays. Inside many successful city executives there is, it seems, not just an enthusiastic painter, sculptor or chef, but one keen to share his or her passion, with paying guests. The magnificent house shown here, near Montepulciano in Tuscany, is a beautiful example. Thoroughly modernised and an hour from the nearest international airport, it has, between its main house and outbuildings, 10 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a 16m swimming pool and 10 acres of grounds, including a 300 tree olive grove. It also has magnificent views, ideal for latter-day Macchiaioli. For those with even deeper pockets (and a desire for even more bathrooms) we are delighted to have taken instructions on the 35 million, three house, Camp De Mar estate in Mallorca. Possibly the most expensive residence on Mallorca at present, it is every bit as large, luxurious and spectacular, as you might expect.
